Oil & Gas Forging

In oil and gas, a component failure releases something hot, pressurised and flammable. That is why the sector specifies forged construction, full NDT and documentation that survives audit a decade after delivery.

Oil & Gas Forging at a glance

Quotable facts from Avadh Techno Forge, Gundasara, Gondal, Rajkot.

  • Standards: ANSI B16.5, ASME B16.11, customer specs

01

Pressure Integrity Is Non-Negotiable

Interconnected porosity in a cast body forms a leak path. Forged components have none, which is why piping and pressure codes so consistently prefer forged flanges, fittings and valve bodies in critical service.

  • No porosity leak paths
  • 100% NDT where specified
  • EN 10204 3.1 certification
  • Third-party inspection accommodated
02

Materials for the Environment

A105 for general service, F11 and F22 for elevated temperature, F304 and F316 where corrosion governs, duplex where chlorides attack. Sour service requirements are addressed through grade and hardness control.

03

Parts We Supply

Weld neck and blind flanges, valve bodies and bonnets, socket weld and threaded fittings, wellhead components, drill collars, subs, adapters and pressure housings.

04

Why Codes Prefer Forged Components

In oil and gas the pressure boundary is the safety system. Interconnected porosity in a cast body can form a leak path that no surface inspection reveals, which is why piping and pressure codes so consistently require forged flanges, fittings and valve bodies in critical service.

Documentation typically required
DocumentPurpose
EN 10204 3.1 certificateActual test results for the delivered heat
Heat treatment chartsEvidence the specified cycle was applied
NDT reportsUltrasonic, magnetic particle or dye penetrant results
Hardness recordsIncluding sour service limits where applicable
Dimensional reportsConformance to the dimensional standard
Third-party releaseWhere the end client requires witnessing
05

Matching Material to the Service Environment

Grade selection follows the fluid, temperature and pressure rather than habit: A105 for general service, A350 LF2 where low-temperature toughness is required, F11 and F22 at elevated temperature, F304 and F316 where corrosion governs, and duplex where chlorides threaten stress corrosion cracking. Where hydrogen sulphide is present, NACE MR0175 hardness limits constrain heat treatment as well as material. See NACE MR0175.

FAQ

Questions Answered

Do you manufacture to API requirements?

+

We manufacture to customer specifications referencing API requirements, with the testing, documentation and traceability those specifications demand.

Is third-party inspection allowed?

+

Yes, TPI agencies witness forging, heat treatment and NDT at our works by appointment.

What NDT do you perform?

+

Ultrasonic, magnetic particle and dye penetrant testing with certified reports referenced to the heat number.

Can you supply sour service components?

+

Sour service requirements are addressed through grade selection and hardness control; please share the specification with your enquiry.
