Automotive Forging
Automotive forging is defined by three things: safety criticality, volume, and documentation. A part that performs beautifully but cannot be traced, measured and proven batch after batch will not survive an OEM audit.
- Certification
- ISO 9001, IATF 16949 aligned
- Documentation
- PPAP, PFMEA, control plan
- Inspection
- 100% on safety-critical parts
- Typical Volume
- 5,000 – 50,000 pcs/year
- Materials
- 20MnCr5, 42CrMo4, EN19, micro-alloyed
- Traceability
- Heat number, billet to dispatch

Safety-Critical Discipline
Steering, braking and suspension parts are category-one components. Each is 100% inspected, heat-number marked and documented, because a field failure becomes a recall, not a credit note.
- 100% NDT on safety-critical parts
- Heat number marked on each piece
- PPAP and control plan documentation
- Cpk monitored on key characteristics
Volume and Consistency
Automotive schedules run in tens of thousands. What matters is not the best piece but the worst one — so process capability, die maintenance intervals and gauge control are managed as production disciplines rather than inspection afterthoughts.
Parts We Supply
Connecting rods, crankshafts, camshafts, steering knuckles, tie rod ends, wheel hubs, axle shafts, gear and pinion blanks, suspension arms, brake camshafts and transmission components.
What Automotive Supply Actually Requires
Automotive forging is defined less by the parts than by the system around them. A component that performs perfectly but cannot be traced, measured and proven batch after batch will not survive an OEM audit, let alone a field concern.
| Requirement | What it means in practice |
|---|---|
| PPAP submission | Control plan, PFMEA, process flow, dimensional results, capability data |
| Process capability | Cpk 1.33 or better on special characteristics |
| Safety-critical inspection | 100% magnetic particle inspection on steering, braking and suspension parts |
| Traceability | Heat number marked on the part and carried through every record |
| Change control | Notification before any process or material change |
| Scheduling | Releases against an annual quantity |
Why Volume Changes the Discipline
At automotive volumes the question stops being whether a good part can be made and becomes whether a bad one can escape. That shifts the emphasis from final inspection to process control: billet weight, forging temperature, die condition and post-heat-treatment hardness are each monitored at a defined frequency so drift is caught while it still costs a die adjustment.
